Net tax collection jumps 7.43 percent in April-December

Mumbai:The government's net direct tax collections jumped 7.41 percent to Rs 4.48 lakh crore in the April-Dcember period compared to Rs 4.17 lakh crore last fiscal. The April-December gross direct tax collection stood 12.93 percent higher at Rs 5.47 lakh crore versus Rs 4.84 lakh crore collected during the same period last year.
Gross collection of corporate tax increased 12.79 percent and stood at Rs 3.50 lakh crore as against Rs 3.11 lakh crore collected in the year-ago period. Gross collection of personal income tax rose 12.62 percent to Rs 1.90 lakh crore during the period as against Rs 1.69 lakh crore last year.
Securities Transaction Tax (STT) witnessed a 43.44 growth to Rs 4940 crore. Meanwhile, advance tax collection also showed a growth of 13.15 percent during April-December of the FY 2014-15 as against the growth of 8.76 percent shown at the same time previous year. Growth in TDS stood at 7.84 percent as against 16.73 percent in the same period last year. The self-assessment tax grew 22.20 percent versus 11.86 percent in the same period last year. The growth in regular tax is 33.03% as against 15.60% in the same period last year.
