Markets off day’s high


Mumbai: Nifty turned volatile in mid-afternoon trades on Tuesday. Immediate resistance may be placed at 9850 level. Infosys has continued to contribute to the gains of Nifty and Sensex.

Infosys is trading up by 1.7% at Rs 975.80 per share on BSE.

BSE Telecom is the top losing index on Tuesday. Bharti Airtel is majorly contributing to the index losses and dragging it to lower level. Bharti Airtel was down 2.73% at Rs 394.35 per share.

Other stocks viz. TTML is down 6.9% at Rs 7.68 per share, HFCL is down 4.2% at Rs 14.64 per share, Idea Cellular is down 3.2% at Rs 84.60 per share, Aksh Optifibre is down 3.1% at Rs 21.70 per share and Tata Communication is down 2.0% at Rs 655.50 per share.

On the contrary, GTL Infra is surging ahead on the bourses. It was up by 15.9% at Rs 5.81 per share.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML) has announced the total number of subscribers as of June 2017. As of June 30, 2017, the total number of subscribers stood at 78,06,119 as against 81,25,718 as of May 31, 2017 on Tuesday.

At 3 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is up 11 points trading at 31,726, while Nifty is up 15 points trading at 9786. A total of 69 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 15 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.81% at 14,920, and BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.53% at 15,814.

Some buying activity is seen in Power, Industrials and IT indices, while Consumer Durables,FMCG and Bankex indices are showing weakness on BSE.

Hindalco, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Bank of Baroda, Wipro and Coal India are losing on the NSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 0.66% at 10.8.
